Calendar of school holidays and examinations

In most of countries, school year begins in September and ends in June. The period during June and September should be avoided in order to carry out a Culture Capsule.

However, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan are exceptions to the rule. In both Singapore and Malaysia, school year starts in January and finishes in mid November, the period between November to February thus having to be avoided. In Japan, school year begins in April and ends in February. It is consequently better to start the Capsule in the early Spring or in the early Fall.

Periods of holidays

Only the main periods of holidays are indicated. Most of countries also have shorter breaks on new year, in February and April.

Malaysia and Singapore: school year begins in January and ends in the middle of November.
Japan: school year begins the first of April and ends in March.
